Organisers:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cTransform!Danmark\u201d in cooperation with the \u201cTransform!Europe\u201d network, and supported by Enhedslisten\/the Red\u00ad\u2010Green Alliance as well as the leftwing magazines \u201cDet \u00a0Ny \u00a0Clart\u00e9\u201d, \u201cSolidaritet\u201d, \u201cKritisk Debat\u201d, \u201cSocialistisk Information\u201d, and \u201cGrobund\u201d (left\u00a0educational\u00a0association).<\/p>\n

The TransformDanmark network has\u00a0existed for\u00a0around\u00a0a year\u00a0and this is the second international conference organised by\u00a0the\u00a0network.\u00a0Our\u00a0aim\u00a0is to\u00a0contribute to the Danish\u00a0debate\u00a0with\u00a0a critical and informed analysis of the society and create\u00a0and participate\u00a0in\u00a0discussions\u00a0on\u00a0alternative\u00a0development\u00a0in Denmark\u00a0as\u00a0well\u00a0as\u00a0Europe\u00a0and\u00a0globally.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0purpose\u00a0of this\u00a0second international conference is to\u00a0promote\u00a0a necessary\u00a0but\u00a0difficult\u00a0debate\u00a0on the ecological and equitable alternatives\u00a0to environmental\u00a0and\u00a0mainstream economy\u00a0and thinking. This debate is\u00a0neglected by\u00a0mainstream economists. And\u00a0it\u00a0is\u00a0also\u00a0fundamentally\u00a0lacking\u00a0as a broad debate within\u00a0the left. This is the reason for our choice to invite an international panel to inform and inspire and to contribute to the much wider debate and policy making that\u00a0is needed, when the aim is to transform and change societies\u00a0into\u00a0environmentally\u00a0and \u00a0socially sustainable and equitable societies.

10.15 \u00a0\u2013 \u00a011.15:<\/strong>\u00a0Gabriele Michalitsch<\/strong>, political scientist and economist, Department of Political Science at Vienna University:\u00a0Power\u00a0and Truth: Forming Neoliberal Subjects.<\/strong>Neoliberalism means not\u00a0only\u00a0a\u00a0basic\u00a0transformation\u00a0of the economy or the state,\u00a0it\u00a0also\u00a0implies\u00a0a profound redefinition of the subject. Connecting power\u00a0and (economic)\u00a0knowledge\u00a0Gabriele\u00a0Michalitsch\u00a0will\u00a0inquire\u00a0on dominant postulates guiding neoliberal thinking and\u00a0language\u00a0as\u00a0crucial\u00a0modes\u00a0of\u00a0subject\u00a0formation.\u00a0Furthermore, she will\u00a0propose\u00a0alternative concepts and approaches\u00a0to challenge\u00a0these\u00a0\u201caccepted truths\u201d.<\/p>\n

11.30 \u00a0\u2013 \u00a012.30:<\/strong>\u00a0Inge R\u00f8pke<\/strong>, Professor, Aalborg\u00a0University,\u00a0Center for\u00a0Design, Innovation\u00a0and\u00a0Sustainable Transition (DIST):\u00a0Ecological\u00a0Economics: Calling for Transformational\u00a0Change.<\/strong>\u00a0Ecological economics differs fundamentally from environmental and mainstream economics by focusing on the need for systemic transformation which takes both planetary boundaries\u00a0and a global fair distribution\u00a0of resources into consideration. Inge R\u00f8pke will present the framework of ecological economics and discuss the challenges\u00a0from\u00a0the perspective of the rich\u00a0countries, including the need\u00a0for\u00a0transformation\u00a0of socio\u00ad\u2010technical\u00a0systems\u00a0and for\u00a0wider institutional changes.<\/p>\n

But if the\u00a0absence\u00a0of\u00a0growth shall\u00a0not\u00a0lead\u00a0to the poor becoming even poorer,
\nit is necessary with strong social control\u00a0of the distribution of wealth. Petter N\u00e6ss uses\u00a0examples\u00a0from town planning systems\u00a0in Denmark and\u00a0Norway\u00a0to\u00a0explain\u00a0why\u00a0good\u00a0initiatives\u00a0to reduce the use\u00a0of resources will be undermined by rebound effects\u00a0if societies do not\u00a0transform into societies built on environmental and social sustainability. Ecosocialism may be an appropriate term to\u00a0such\u00a0a society.<\/p>\n

14.30 \u00a0\u2013 \u00a015.30: Christa \u00a0Wichterich<\/strong>, Women in\u00a0Development\u00a0Europe\u00a0(WIDE), researcher\u00a0and\u00a0 author:\u00a0A feminist perspective on transition and transformation strategies.<\/strong>\u00a0The analysis of the multidimensional and\u00a0interlocking crises\u00a0as a systemic crisis has reloaded discourses about the globalised\u00a0development model which\u00a0is driven by the logic of\u00a0GDP\u00ad\u2010growth, efficiency and profit maximisation. For\u00a0feminists the growth\/de-growth debate is an opportunity to connect three debates on which they focused in the recent\u00a0past:\u00a01)\u00a0the care economy, 2) commons\u00a0and\u00a0commoning,\u00a0and 3) a critique\u00a0of neoliberal\u00a0globalisation, resp.\u00a0sufficiency in production\u00a0and consumption.\u00a0It is time\u00a0to repoliticize\u00a0economic\u00a0issues from\u00a0the perspective of social reproduction, stress the emancipatory potential of the caring economy, of commons and the principle of not\u00a0living\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0cost\u00a0of others and the nature.<\/p>\n
